Work With Us
What You Should Know First
If you’re considering working with us, here’s what you should know first:
We’ve worked with hundreds of people in transition: retiring, selling a business, navigating complex family decisions. These are the questions that come up most often.
Working With Us
Common Questions. Honest Answers.
-
What does the process look like?
We call it The Path to Financial Confidence™. It starts with a conversation, moves through planning and strategy, and leads to long-term partnership. We stay involved throughout. No handoffs, no disappearing after the plan is delivered.
-
Do I need to have everything figured out before we meet?
Not at all. Most people come to us mid-transition: overwhelmed, unsure what to prioritize, or just ready to get organized. We help you sort through what matters most and take the next step with clarity.
-
Will I work with one person or a team?
You’ll work with a dedicated team who stays with you. No call centers, no rotating cast. We believe consistency builds trust and better outcomes.
Fees & Compensation
-
How do you get paid?
We’re a fee-only firm. That means no commissions, no product incentives, and no hidden agendas. You’ll pay a clearly stated fee for planning or a percentage of assets if we manage investments for you.
-
Do you offer planning without investment management?
Yes. We offer full-service planning for clients we can’t yet manage assets for, like those with money still in a 401(k). These are built as ongoing partnerships from the start, not one-time advice. We’re not a good fit for DIY investors looking for occasional input, but if you’re looking for a long-term relationship with trusted guidance, we’re a great fit. Planning engagements are billed through an initial fee and either an annual retainer or a monthly subscription going forward.
-
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes. As a fee-only registered investment advisor, we are legally and ethically obligated to put your best interest first in every recommendation, every plan, and every decision.
Fit & Expectations
-
Who is a typical client?
We work with individuals and families who are facing meaningful financial decisions – with $1M or more in investable assets. Retirees, business owners, and high-net-worth families are a strong fit.
-
What’s expected of me as a client?
We’ll ask you to engage in the process. Share information, be honest about your goals, and give us a little time to do the work right. We’ll take care of the rest.

Who’s behind BentOak Capital and why does that matter?
We’re still owned and led by our founding family, and that perspective shapes how we serve clients with clarity, long-term thinking, and consistent follow-through. Unlike many enterprise wealth management firms today, we have no outside investors, no public stockholders, and no private equity pressures. Just a team of professionals personally invested in doing what’s right for the people we serve.
