Jason is a senior wealth advisor at BentOak Capital and leverages his extensive experience to provide comprehensive financial planning services to high-net-worth individuals and families. He remains dedicated to helping clients navigate complex financial landscapes, which leads to informed decisions to secure their financial futures.

Mr. McGarraugh’s outstanding contributions have earned him the Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech University and a coveted spot on the InvestmentNews 40 Under 40 List*. His expertise lies in comprehensive financial planning, encompassing retirement strategies, asset management, and insurance planning, ensuring the financial well-being of clients at every stage of life.

Previously serving as the Public Relations Chairperson on the Houston FPA Board of Directors and being a founding member and past President of the Texas Tech Personal Financial Planning Alumni Advisory Board reflect his passion for advancing the industry.

He has made significant contributions to two distinguished books in his mission to advance the industry. His insights and expertise can be found in “The Art of Practicing and the Art of Communication in Financial Planning” by Sid Mittra and “Financial Counseling” by Dr. Dorothy Durband. These collaborative endeavors have provided him with the opportunity to share valuable perspectives, contributing to the ongoing discourse within the financial planning community. Jason takes pride in being part of these publications, playing a role in advancing knowledge and understanding of effective financial practices and communication strategies.

Jason’s journey to success began in Perryton, Texas, where he graduated from Perryton High School. He holds a BBA in Finance from the Texas Tech University – Rawls College of Business. He holds a MS from the prestigious Tech University – School of Financial Planning.  In 2016, he successfully completed a 10-year succession plan, acquiring his business partner’s practice. Actively contributing to the Houston FPA NexGen and Career Development committees, he shares his expertise and insights with fellow professionals.
